There are a lot of myths and misconceptions regarding wisdom teeth and their removal.

Many a times there is limited space at the back of the mouth. As the wisdom teeth are the last to erupt they may jammed in between the second molars and the bone at the back of the jaw and cannot therefore erupt fully. Technically such teeth are called as “impacted teeth”.

As bone covers these teeth, in order to extract them, some amount of bone drilling and removal may be required. The procedure is done at our clinic itself by our consultant oral surgeon. The time taken is about 45 min and you may need some stitches after the tooth has been removed. You can resume normal activities almost immediately, though strenuous work is avoidable. Within 5 days you will be back to usual lifestyle.
